Metode Lovaas

The basis of the training that we have developed the visual imagination begins with the discovery and the work of Professor o. Ivar Lovaas of UCLA (USA.)(UU.). This method was originally known as the method of the ABA (applied behavior analysis) that has existed for decades, but it is unclear who is the true inventor of this method. Only about 15 years ago, an expert in behavior therapy called Ivar o. Lovaas UCLA (USA.)(UU.), the application of the method in children autime ABA. The result is surprising. Autism in children (child autism) which originally was healed highly unlikely, was treated successfully with this method, so that the patient is able to enter the formal education. Surprisingly, they are not the children who are not persons with autism. Prof. Lovaas and then publish the results, which is why the method is known as the Lovaas method.

So far there is no other method are the results highly structured and easy to measure, as the method of the ABA. Thus, this method can be taught to potential patients therapy. Penandang autism, ABA methods are firm and non-violence is very good when applied to children with conduct disorders, even for normal children.

Briefly about ABA Method

Methods of applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the method used to change the behaviour of children, by minimizing bad behaviour and raise the standard of good conduct. Principles of AWA systematic, structured and measurable. ABA techniques can be performed by professionals who understand the methods of the ABA. Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) is a violation of the development of children under the age of 3, a disease characterized by social interaction, communication and behaviour. Fa ktor cause ASD is that dysfunction of central nervous system, so the child cannot focus and attention that they violate.

In behavioral therapy, treatment is focused on providing positive reinforcement each time the child responds correctly in accordance with the instructions given. There is no penalty (punishment) in this therapy, but if the child responds to negative (wrong / right) or not respond at all then he did not get the positive reinforcement that he liked it. This treatment is expected to increase the likelihood of children to respond positively and reduce the chances of him responding to the negative (or not respond) to the instructions provided.

In theory, the basic principle of this therapy can be described as the ABC, i.e. to (antecedent), followed by B (conduct) and followed by C (result). Antecedent (precedes the appearance of conduct) in the form of instructions from a person to an autistic child. A style of teaching through structured, children with autism and understand the behaviour (conduct) is expected to be done by him after the given instruction and behavior expected tends to occur again when the children of the consequences (consequences of the conduct, or sometimes in the form of remuneration) of fun.

The aim of this treatment is primarily to improve the understanding of and obedience to authority. This therapy usually achieve great results if done intensively regularly and consistently at an early age.

Cooperation between parents and experts like Doctors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Counselors and Therapists, is required to view the child’s development before 3 years of age. Early detection of developmental disorders, which penangganannya better. Knowledge and information from the media about some developmental disorders such as ASD, Hyperactive, Down Syndrome needs to be improved and developed.

The research method used is bibliography study the researchers examined based on the book, artikelartikel, and writings, both from magazines and from newspapers and aims to test methods of ABA for ASD children. This study investigates methods of ABA using the literature and concluded ak about a theoretical analysis method of ABA for ASD children. Read and hear information such as seminars, about ASD and ABA methods, will enhance the knowledge and insight for those interested in ASD children.
